So I head off to Africa tomorrow for the field course - a whole new continent for me. Very exciting. One other girl from my class, Lois, and myself will leave for the airport at 3 am to fly to Amsterdam, and then hop an 11 hour flight to Johannesburg…..if all goes according to plan, of course. We’ll be staying at the Moafrika hostel for the night, which comes highly recommended from some South African friends and looks pretty nice (http://www.hostelbookers.com/property/prp/64778/arr/2012-02-23/ngt/1/). Another lad from our class will be joining us at lunchtime tomorrow, and the remaining 12 tomorrow night. We’ll head back to the airport on Sunday to meet up with our professor and a van to drive to the Lapalala Wilderness Reserve. We’ll be there for about a week, and then move on to the Welgevonden Reserve. After that, on to Cape Town for a week of vacation! I will be sure to take loads of pictures and I’ll try to write about each day or two, but it’s likely I will not have internet access to post anything online for at least the first 2 weeks of the trip – so no panicking if you don’t hear from me for a while.
