Hello all. I realize it's been some time since I've written, but fortunately I got to visit many of you in America over my holiday. And it was nice to take a break from phones and computers, as most of you (begrudgingly) know I am prone to doing. I got a last minute flight at a good deal on Christmas Eve to the States, and made it back to Pittsburgh and Ohio. It was wonderful to see everyone in person, as I have missed you all. Especially the children. I got to see my parents and a few of my brothers and sisters; my grandparents on the Noll side and their new residence; my aunt, uncle, cousin, and their exceptional cooking; and the Houseknects, Foremans, Yates's, and all of my Kirkmont friends in Ohio. I also got to eat at all my favorite restaurants and to stock up on all my favorite American brands. Funny the things that just aren't quite the same between countries.
I also bought a new Steelers shirt to wear here. Because of their tragic loss to the Denver Broncos, the winter clothing was half off when I left. But as Justin Houseknecht told me on that fateful day, God clearly must be rooting for the Broncos for them to have even made it this far. Perhaps we were already divinely foiled. I'll still wear my shirt proudly when I watch the Superbowl.
I'm now back in Dublin and returned to class on Monday. It's nice to be back and see everyone here, too. We're in a data analysis and statistics module, which is right up my alley! I get to learn some new statistics software called "R", and being the nerd I am, I am loving it. I also bought my tickets for South Africa today. For those of you who don't know, my masters includes a field course in South Africa in March. And some of us are staying on an extra week and going down to Cape Town to swim with the sharks, horseback ride through the countryside, and enjoy the beach. That will technically be my 4th continent, though I would like to spend a fair bit more time exploring South America.
