I know I haven't posted anything in fffffoooorrrrrreeeevvvvvveeeeerrrrr, but you haven't missed anything. No, really - nada. Since I got back after Christmas, my world became consumed with school work.....I knew there was a catch to getting my masters in one year instead of two. I finished up a paper I've been working on for 6 months on top of my regular course work, plus getting ready for South Africa, and trying (but failing) to have something resembling a social life simultaneously. Work, work, work. But my paper is turned in and I gave a presentation to a panel of professors and other students, I've got one more presentation/briefing on environmental policy next week, and then Saturday (St. Patrick's Day!) I leave for South Africa - I'll tell you all more about that in another post. I did find time to introduce the wonderful concept of the Superbowl to some of the Irish, and we stayed up half the night to watch the game......and while I'm still disappointed that the Steelers weren't in it this year, I am overjoyed that Tom Brady LOST! L-O-S-T lost. That'll hold me til next fall.
Just a little aside - and yes, I realize I am very nerdy - but my paper was on chloroplast symbiosis, which mostly is about certain sea slugs that are able to steal chloroplasts from algae and integrate them into their system and continue to photosynthesize, so the slugs don't need to eat anymore - a solar-powered sea slug! Way cool.
