So we arrived in Africa just fine – no hitches at all to our travel, though 11 hours on a plane was still a bit painful. I am currently sitting on the deck soaking up the sunshine, looking out over the pool into a field with 4 ostriches foraging in it. I’ve made a puppy friend here as well - seems to have taken a liking to me and follows me around a bit – but he’s napping next to me enjoying the shade of my chair. It’s about 85 degrees and not a cloud in the sky….which is what fall is like here.
The Moafrika Lodge is as great as recommended - the rooms are quite nice. There was a bit of confusion when we got here, because I made 2 bookings on 2 different nights, but no one had looked at the booking dates very closely when they saw this. I had booked a 2-bed room for the first night, since it’s just me and Lo at the moment, and then booked a 5-bed room for tomorrow night, when everyone else gets here that Lois and I will share with 3 of our other cohorts. But without looking at the dates, the staff had assumed I booked a 5-person room AND a 2-person room for both nights because I must be part of a couple within the group that wanted a bit of privacy. Makes sense. Took a bit of sorting out, but we’re all squared away now. And Lois and I got to share a room with a very romantic bathtub.
The plan for today is just to relax, enjoy some food and drink, and catch up on a bit of work – poolside, of course. Hopefully everyone else gets here without too much trouble, and then we’ll head off tomorrow to get down
to the real work.
