The City
Pittsburgh is packed full of diverse and exciting things to do and see if you take the time. The view of the city coming out to the tubes (or tunnels, for those of you not from here) at night when everything is lit up is worth the drive, or you can take it all in from the incline. It's the home of the 6-time Superbowl champs - the Steelers, the origin of the Heinz company, and famous for Primanti Brother's sandwiches with the fries and coleslaw on the sandwich itself. The Carnegie Science Center and IMAX theater always have new exhibits, the Cathedral of Learning with 26 floors representing the different ethnic groups in Allegheny County is an experience, jump on a few rides at Kennywood Amusement Park, take a cruise on the Good Ship Lollipop, hit up some shopping and food in the Strip District (not quite what the name implies....), or check out the old buildings converted into bars on the South Side.
The House

This is my parents' house in Pittsburgh where I'll be staying and working for the summer. The lower level of the house is being redone and is completely gutted at this point (June, 2011), and there is endless landscaping and yardwork. We'll be doing some electrical work, plumbing, weeding, concrete pouring, drywalling, weeding, deck building, house painting, some more weeding, and anything else we can manage to squeeze in. My brother Jace and one of his friends (and their respective dogs - bringing the grand total to 5) are also home for the summer....needless to say, things should be pretty lively. Here's some sort of "before" pictures of the work thus far on the inside:
